Everything from iPhones to Netflix will become more expensive! Inflation could increase your burden on your wallet

The situation in Iran, rising memory prices, and a weakening rupee are driving up the prices of smartphones, electronics, and services like Netflix. Apple's discontinuation of incentives is also making iPhones more expensive. This could increase the burden on the wallet, and the increases are expected to continue until 2027.

Inflation can put a strain on your pockets. The current situation in Iran, rising memory prices, and a weakening Indian rupee (if you live in India) have exacerbated the situation, driving prices even higher.

Smartphones, electronics, video games, and even Netflix subscriptions are becoming more expensive. The financial pressure on the common man is likely to increase, leading to further distress as expenses continue to rise.

iPhone Price

Thinking of buying a used iPhone? You might have to spend more money, according to the Indian Express. The company could make older iPhone models like the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 series more expensive in markets like India.

According to a recent report, Apple may stop providing demand generation (DG) support for older iPhone models, which could increase prices by up to 5,000 rupees.

Although the retail price remains unchanged, Apple has stopped offering incentives to retailers, meaning that the hefty discounts customers previously enjoyed on iPhone purchases may no longer be available.

This change could be due to rising memory prices worldwide, which is affecting everyone, including Apple. The company has already started raising prices on recently released products, including the latest iPhone 17e, which costs ₹5,000 more than the iPhone 16e released a year ago.

Netflix Price

Some major streaming services will see price increases in 2026. For example, Netflix has increased subscription prices across all plans, starting in the US.

Ad-supported plans now cost $8.99 (approximately Rs. 840) per month, up from $7.99 (approximately Rs. 747). Standard plans cost $19.99 (approximately Rs. 1868) per month, up from $17.99 (approximately Rs. 1681).

The prices of both Premium and Extra Member plans have also increased. This increase is due to Netflix investing heavily in content such as live events and video podcasts. The last price increase occurred in January 2025.

Netflix has over 325 million subscribers worldwide. While this has started in the US, it's possible the company may gradually increase prices in other countries as well. If this happens and Netflix plans in India also increase in price, your OTT experience could become more expensive.

Samsung, Nothing phones are getting more expensive

The price of Android smartphones has risen significantly over the past few months.

Prices aren't expected to stabilize until the memory pricing issue is resolved, and internal sources say production may not fully recover until 2027.

Samsung has raised prices for its Galaxy S26 series this year,

while Nothing has also joined the list by raising the price of its newly launched Phone 4a series. Some experts believe prices could rise even further when new flagships hit the market in the second half of the year.
